Stay Ready: Mid-Season Hurricane Prep for Seniors

Hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30 and mid-season is the
perfect time to double-check your emergency readiness. Are your prescriptions up to
date? Do you have fresh batteries, working flashlights, extra cash and all your important
documents in one place? Now’s the time to ensure your emergency kit is complete and
your evacuation plan is still practical and safe. Don’t forget to check food expiration
dates and keep your medical records current.
To help you stay prepared, the Sunshine Senior Center is hosting its Annual Mid-
Season Hurricane EXPO for Seniors on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to
3:00 p.m. This free event is tailored specifically for seniors and will offer expert
guidance on evacuation planning, medical preparedness and post storm recovery
strategies.
Registration opens July 1, 2025 – Sign up early to secure your spot! 100 participants
will receive a free hurricane kit filled with essential supplies.
Register in person at the Sunshine Senior Center or online. Ask a Sunshine Senior Center team member for assistance.
